In order to maintain the integrity of a high performance program at Prahran RG, travel to interstate and international competitions are an important component of this program.
The aim is to offer the opportunity annually for international and senior national stream gymnasts to compete interstate and internationally; increasing their exposure to high level competition in order to strive to achieve and maintain improved performance.
Considered as an integral part are the psychological benefits; improving motivation, focus and personal development for the gymnast and improve retention rates of older gymnasts.
Essential is the benefit for coaches, exposure to the latest developments, skills, musicality and choreography in the RG national and international community and providing net-working opportunities. Additionally the policy aims to encourage Judges to judge on national and international panels to sustain and improve judging standards and expertise.
The Prahran RG committee will consider annually, in February, the travel budget to be allocated to the travel fund. There will be a cap on the monies allocated for camps, interstate and international competitions. Any money not spend in a particular year can be held over into the next year at the discretion of the committee.
Travel costs above the cap will be met by a combination of fundraising and / or equal distribution of extra cost between the traveling gymnasts. Travel budget funds are specifically to cover costs of travel internationally and to the Australian national championships for coaches and judges.
Any financial support for traveling gymnasts may be raised through specific, targeted fundraising. The committee will examine opportunities arising for interstate and international competition or camps and in collaboration with coaches will earmark suitable events.
