Uniform

Training Uniform

All gymnasts are expected to attend training in a ‘training uniform’. The training uniform is based on the need for uniformity and professionalism, ability to accommodate flexibility and display the manner in which the body is flexing and contouring clearly, as well as the need to ensure the safety of the gymnast.

Clothing

The basis of the ‘training uniform’ is a black leotard. Other black body-fitting items such as bike shorts, leggings, footless tights, fitted t-shirts and singlets can be worn over the leotard in order to provide warmth for the gymnast. No coloured clothing is permitted.

Hair & Jewellery

Hair must be held back in a bun for gymnasts at all levels except recreational. It is expected that jewellery will not be worn to training as it can impact on the safety of the gymnast. Where a gymnast has pierced ears, small stud-type earrings only are acceptable.

Toe Shoes

Gymnasts may perform their exercise with bare feet or wearing gymnastic slippers (toe shoes). These can be purchase from AMCO gymnastics equipment in Clayton or from online Rhythmic Gymnastics stores.

Club Leotards and Tracksuits

For Levels 1 to 3, club leotards are compulsory for all competitions.

Gymnasts in levels 4 to 6, both National and International streams, must have a club leotard and may (optional) have only one other individualised leotard.

For multiples (pairs, trios and groups) competitions, the leotards of the gymnasts must be identical in shape and in colour.

It is a GV requirement that all gymnasts in a club will march on for presentations in an identifiable and uniform manner.

Toe Shoes

Gymnasts may perform their exercise with bare feet or wearing gymnastic slippers (toe shoes).

Hair & Jewellery

Hair must be held back in a bun.
No jewellery may be worn during competitions.

Underwear

Skin-coloured underwear only should be worn under leotards during competitions. If a leotard is transparent anywhere on the body lower than the shoulder blades, a bodysuit must be worn to avoid technical deductions. It is not enough to wear just a skin-coloured bra.

Individualised Leotards

Gymnasts in level 7 and above, both National and International streams, are expected to compete in individualised competition leotards.

All individualised leotards must be approved by the coach prior to competition.

Uniform Hire and Purchase

PRG provides a facility to hire, sell and purchase new and second hand leotards, tracksuits and apparatus.

Purchasing individualised leotards can be an expensive exercise particularly if it also means that new apparatus is required to complement the style and colour, so purchasing
of second hand leotards and apparatus may be a good alternative.

The club leotard can be ordered through the office.  They
can also be hired through the club but availability and sizes are limited. Hire cost is $20 per competition. Leotard and tracksuit must be returned washed after the competition.
