Policy, Purpose and Scope
Prahran Rhythmic Gymnastics (PRG) recognises that the use of social media may create both a positive and negative impact on individuals and the club.
The purpose of this policy is to:
- ensure the relationship between staff and athletes remains professional
- protect staff from allegations of inappropriate conduct
- provide clear guidelines regarding use and ownership of content
- preserve the reputation, intellectual property and positive image of the club.
The following parameters will apply to all social media accounts for PRG
Parents are encouraged to monitor and guide their child’s use of social media.
Social media includes, but is not limited to applications and forums such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tinder, Messenger, YouTube etc
This policy applies to all PRG athletes, parents, paid employees, committee members and volunteer employees.

- preserve the reputation, intellectual property and positive image of the club.
The following parameters will apply to all social media accounts for PRG
- All social media accounts will be password protected and at least 3 members of the club committee will have access to each account and password
- The account will be monitored by a designated person who will have been appointed by the club committee
- The designated person managing our online presence will seek advice from our designated child protection policy documents to be up to date with requirements
- A designated supervisor will remove inappropriate posts
- Identifying details such as a child’s home address, school name or telephone number are not to be posted on social media platforms
- Parents will need to give permission for photographs or videos of their child to be posted on social media
- All accounts and email addresses will be appropriate and fit for purpose
- Social media moderated by PRG is not to be used as a means for any personal communication

Coaches and Volunteers are to;
- Avoid posting any remarks, photographs or video that could be disparaging or embarrassing to the club, staff, members/gymnasts, officials or to any other gymnastics club
- Not contact or ‘friend’ any athlete under the age of 18 via social media (this does not apply to employees under the age of 18 who are also current PRG athletes
- If a Prahran coach or volunteer has a personal relationship with a child under the age of 18 prior to becoming a coach or volunteer with the club then connection can be remain but this does not mean Prahran approves the social media connection.
- Only contact athletes under the age of 18 via the parents
- Inform the club manager if they notice a contravention to this policy
Club members/gymnasts are to;
- Avoid posting any remarks, photographs or video that could be disparaging or embarrassing to the club, staff, members/gymnasts, officials or to any other gymnastics club
- Not contact or ‘friend’ any coach or staff member via social media
- Inform their parents, coach or club manager if they notice a contravention to this policy
- Avoid posting any remarks, photographs or video that could be disparaging or embarrassing to the club, staff, members/gymnasts, officials or to any other gymnastics club
- Not ‘tag’ PRG on their private pages unless permission has been sought from the club
- Inform the club president if they notice a contravention to this policy.
- May create official PRG social media accounts/pages for promotion of the club and information sharing. All past, current and future page/account content remains the intellectual property of PRG. The pages must always be moderated by three administrators, nominated by the Committee. (update is needed on this paragraph)
